Use the included polishing cloth or buffing papers that were supplied with your jewelry to clean and polish the pieces. Oxidized pieces (jewelry given darkened patinas) may lighten over time.
This is a totally natural process and will not diminish the quality of the work.
Avoid wearing your jewelry while bathing, swimming or in a spa. Chemicals in the water can quickly tarnish silver. While the silver can be easily polished pieces that may have a darkened oxidized treatment to them can be worn away.
Tarnish that might form under stones (for example sea glass) might be visible if the stones are somewhat transparent. This tarnish would not be able to be removed without first removing the stone from its setting. Also; many gemstones are sensitive to chlorine and other chemicals and can lose their lustre or have their polish abraded away.
Jewelry pieces made with Fordite can be cleaned and polished using the polishing cloths or buffing papers included with your particular piece. Fordite can be cleaned with a mild solution of just soap and water. Do not use abrasive materials or jewelry polishing cream on the Fordite as this may effect the color of the material. If the Fordite gets scratched it can be polished using very fine (1200 grit or finer) wet use sandpaper. Follow up sanding with an application of wax or even automotive wax. Do not machine buff the Fordite as the material cannot tolerate heat.
Jewelry care for pieces using Surfite follows the same recommendations as for FORDITE
jewelry. Surfite is made from polyester resins and if scratched can be polished using the same wet sanding process with fine grit sandpapers as with Fordite jewelry.
Resin jewelry should be treated with the same level of care as Fordite or Surfite. Resin is very hard and durable; but if scratched it can be wet sanded with fine grit papers (1200) and then buffed with wax.
Jewelry using sea glass should, as recommended above not be worn while bathing, swimming or in a spa. Most sea glass is transparent and tarnish that might form under the sea glass (in the setting) due to water borne chemicals cannot easily be removed.
